Our commitment
Health Exchange incorporating Living Well Taking Control (HEx-LWTC) is committed to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in all aspects of our organisation and supply chains.
We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. We take a zero-tolerance approach and are committed to acting ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our business relationships.
As an organisation delivering health improvement, prevention, wellbeing, employment and community-based services on behalf of public sector organisations, including NHS bodies and local authorities, we are committed to ensuring that modern slavery is not present within our operations or supply chains.
Our organisation
HEx-LWTC delivers services across health, wellbeing, prevention and community settings throughout the UK. Our workforce includes employees, associates, volunteers, delivery partners and subcontractors working on behalf of public sector commissioners.
Whilst we consider the overall risk of modern slavery within our directly employed workforce to be low, we recognise our responsibility to remain vigilant and to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place across our organisation and supply chains.
Our approach
Our approach to preventing modern slavery is supported through a range of organisational policies, procedures and controls, including:
- Safeguarding arrangements that recognise modern slavery and human trafficking as forms of abuse and exploitation
- Recruitment and employment practices designed to promote fair and lawful working conditions
- Whistleblowing arrangements that encourage concerns to be raised safely
- Procurement and contract management processes that promote ethical business practices
- Appropriate due diligence and assurance processes for suppliers, delivery partners and subcontractors
We expect all organisations acting on our behalf to uphold standards consistent with our values and legal obligations.
Training and awareness
Modern slavery awareness forms part of our wider safeguarding approach. Staff are expected to complete training appropriate to their role and are encouraged to understand the signs and indicators of modern slavery, exploitation and human trafficking.
We encourage a culture of openness and support, where concerns can be raised in good faith and addressed appropriately.
Governance
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer.
We review our arrangements regularly to ensure they remain effective, proportionate and aligned with legal, contractual and best practice requirements.
